CORE Fitness & Physical Therapy
Combines the Science of Physical Therapy with the Art of Movement
If you have ever experienced "traditional" Physical Therapy, you will notice immediately, that the approach is very different here at Core.
Core Fitness and Physical Therapy meets the growing demand for patients who want individualized treatment and hands on care. We specialize in combining "traditional" therapeutic interventions such as ultrasound and massage with Pilates based whole body conditioning. We work with you, and for you.
On your first Physical Therapy visit we start with an hour long comprehensive evaluation. In order for treatment to begin you will need a prescription from a medical doctor. You may, if you wish, come in on your own for a problem you would like evaluated. If the therapist agrees that you have a treatable physical therapy problem, we will help you obtain a physician's order, so treatment can begin.
Most patients receive therapy one to two times per week for 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the condition. You will receive a comprehensive home exercise program to help expedite the process. Therapy is performed using Pilates principles on Pilates equipment. The equipment uses spring resistance in order to effectively balance muscle strength and flexibility. This Method of muscle balancing treats not only the injured area but also the body as a whole. This allows for quicker and less painful recovery with decreased chance of re-injury. The focus of exercise is on the quality of movement vs the quantity of repetitions, in order to restore proper body mechanics and eliminate faulty movement patterns that cause pain or dysfunction.
At Core Fitness and Physical Therapy, REHAB, FITNESS and PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT are treated as inseparable parts of an integrated and healthy lifestyle. Therefore, patients are encouraged to join group classes or transition to private pilates sessions once together, you and the therapist feels this is appropriate.

WELCOME LETTER
Welcome to Core Fitness and Physical Therapy. We are happy that you have chosen us for rehabilitative needs. You may have already noticed that Pilates-based Physical Therapy is different from a traditional PT setting. Each time you arrive you will be asked to sign in and remove your shoes before your session begins. At your first visit, your therapist will do a thorough evaluation of your condition, provide treatment and offer a beginning home program.
When setting up future appointments, in order to accomodate schedule, it is not always possible to see the same therapist. However, all of our therapists are trained in-house in the Core Method of Pilates and document consistently. Therefore, continuity of care is assured. As we provide the unique service of skilled intervention with one-on-one care, we must be notified of cancellations at least 24 hours in advance. Failure to provide 24 hour notice will result in a $50 fee.
We thank you for choosing Core Fitness and Physical Therapy and look forward to worling with you as a partner in your care.
Sincerely,
The Staff at Core Fitness and Physical Therapy
